1. Stop by one of our locations and ask to open a new account. Please remember to bring the following items with you:
   
   

   Drivers License
   Social Security Number
   Initial Deposit ($50 for free checking account)

2. Discontinue using your other account and redirect your direct deposits to Athens Federal.
   
   

   Stop writing checks from your other account that you want to close. Let all checks from the old account clear (typically this will take between 10-14 business days). When you’re confident all checks have cleared, ask for a check to be cut for any remaining balance.
   
   

3. Destroy any unused checks, deposit slips, and any ATM or DEBIT cards.
   
   

Upon opening your new account at Athens Federal, our Customer Service Representative will help you complete any Automatic Withdrawal Forms, Direct Deposit Forms or Account Closing Forms. The process will be quick and easy!

* New Athens Federal Community Bank checking account customers will be eligible for a $100 payment if a Direct Deposit of Payroll or Social Security is attached to the account.

This $100 payment will be deposited to the account upon verification of the Direct Deposit of Payroll or Social Security to the customer's account. One (1) $100 payment per household.
